 ΣΥΜΠΕΡΑΣΜΑΤΙΚΗ ΑΝΑΚΟΙΝΩΣΗ

 Το 11^ο Διεθνές Συμπόσιο Αρχαίου Ελληνικού Δράματος διεξήχθη στις 2, 3 και 4 Ιουλίου, 2010, στο Ξενοδοχείο Holiday Inn της Λευκωσίας. Θέμα του Συμποσίου ήταν: Πάθος-΄Ηθος. Χαρακτήρες και ρόλοι στο αρχαίο ελληνικό δράμα. Κείμενο και Παράσταση. Το θέμα πραγματεύτηκαν σε πέντε συνεδρίες δεκαέξη ακαδημαϊκοί και πρακτικοί του θεάτρου από την Κύπρο και το εξωτερικό καθώς και αριθμός συνέδρων που  μετείχαν στη συζήτηση που ακολουθούσε κάθε συνεδρία.

 Βασικό χαρακτηριστικό του Συμποσίου ήταν το ευρύ φάσμα προοπτικών από το οποίο προσέγγισαν το θέμα οι ομιλητές. Εξετάσθηκε το ήθος των δραματικών προσώπων ως παράγων καθοριστικός των πράξεών τους με αναφορές τόσο στην τραγωδία όσο και στην κωμωδία. Υποστηρίχτηκε ότι το ήθος και το πάθος ως κειμενική εγγραφή που προωθεί την εξέλιξη της πλοκής εγείρει ζητήματα που  σχετίζεται με τη μεταφορά του γραπτού λόγου σε εκφωνούμενο λόγο που είναι η σκηνική παράσταση. Επισημάνθηκε επίσης ότι  το δραματικό ήθος διαμορφώνεται και από την επενέργεια της φύσης, η οποία έχει σημαντική παρουσία σε πολλά κείμενα του αρχαίου δράματος. Εδώ προστέθηκε και η λειτουργία της μουσικής ως εξωκειμενικού ηθοποιητικού παράγοντα. Μια άλλη διάσταση έδωσε και η πραγμάτευση της διαχρονικής αξίας του δράματος και η αναζήτηση νέων κωδίκων επικοινωνίας που καθιστούν το αρχαίο δράμα προσλήψιμο στο σύγχρονο κοινό.  Τέτοιοι κώδικες αναλύθηκαν και σχολιάστηκαν με αναφορά συγκεκριμένων παραστάσεων, που δόθηκαν σε διάφορα πολιτισμικά περιβάλλοντα.

 Συμπερασματικά μπορεί να ειπωθεί ότι τα δραματικά κείμενα ως αναλλοίωτες μορφές λόγου επιτρέπουν και προκαλούν ποικιλία αναγνώσεων και προσεγγίσεων τόσο στο θεωρητικό όσο και στο παραστασιολογικό επίπεδο.

11^th International Symposium on Ancient Greek Drama

 CONCLUSIVE STATEMENT

 The  11^th International Symposium on Ancient Greek Drama was held on 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th July 2010, at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Nicosia. The topic of the Symposium was: Scripted Passion – Staged Ethos. Character and Role Construction in Ancient Greek Drama. Text and Performance. The topic was dealt with in five sessions by sixteen academic scholars and practitioners of the theatre from Cyprus and abroad as well as other participants who took part in the discussion that followed each session.

 The basic characteristic of the Symposium was the wide spectrum of perspectives from which the speakers approached the topic. They discussed the ethos of the drama characters as a factor that determines their actions with reference to tragedy and comedy. It was supported that ethos and passion as textual elements which contribute to the development of the plot give rise to issues relating to the translation of written discourse into oral discourse i.e. the stage performance. It was also pointed out that the dramatic ethos is shaped by the influence of nature as well, which has a significant presence in many ancient drama texts. Here was added the function of music as a non-textual ethos creating factor. The discussion on the value of ancient drama through time and the seeking of new codes of communication which would make ancient drama accessible to today’s audiences gave a new dimension to its reception. Such codes were discussed and commented on through reference to specific performances that were given within various cultural contexts.

 In conclusion it can be said that the dramatic texts as unalterable forms of discourse allow and provoke diverse readings and approaches both on the theoretical and the performance levels.
